The Big Picture

Fat Head
I like to think of Fat Head as the "gateway drug" to low-carb. Perfect for casually introducing someone to the idea that everything you know about nutrition is wrong. Tom Naughton's movie started as a rebuttal to Super Size Me and ended up transforming his understanding of nutrition, science and the politics of food. This movie is how many people first learn about low-carb and why the current nutritional advice is a load of bologna.

The Food Revolution
Dr. Andreas Eenfeldt's lecture at the 2011 Ancestral Health Symposium. He explains how we have been mislead about nutrition for decades, why the current conventional wisdom doesn't work for many people and how LCHF (Low Carb High Fat) can help. This is a great introduction to anyone new to low-carb, ancestral health, paleo, etc.

Sugar: The Bitter Truth
Dr. Lustig explores the damage caused by sugary foods. He argues that fructose (too much) and fiber (not enough) appear to be cornerstones of the obesity epidemic through their effects on insulin.

Science for Smart People
Tom Naughton discusses the scientific method, what types of conclusions you can draw from various studies, why what you see in the media usually isn't good science and how to evaluate what you encounter in the future.
